Lincoln Park Conservatory, first opened in the 1890s, contains four distinct garden areas, each exploring a different aspect of the natural world. The Fern Room carries the exotic feel of the past, boasting moss-covered stones and densely packed vegetation, while the Palm House explores the tropical species of the ever-popular palm tree. Collections of types of one of the world's most diverse and prized flower species are on display in the Orchid House and the Show House presents the varied annual shows at the conservatory that take place throughout the year. The conservatory is in the heart of Lincoln Park, north of downtown Chicago, near The Notebaert Nature Museum and the Lincoln Park Zoo.
