Founded in 1860, Graceland Cemetery was created in the Victorian design, with a similar appearance to a community park. Large memorials were erected to mark the burial sites of some individuals, like the Greek-inspired mausoleum of business giant Potter Palmer and the highly ornamented tomb of Carrie Eliza Getty; other sites are small, like the baseball-shaped headstone of William Hulbert, one of the men who helped create the National League. The cemetery is situated due west of the lakeside Lincoln Park, about seven miles north of downtown Chicago.
Open daily 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
