Designed and built between 1885 and 1887, the Glessner House Museum remains a unique piece of architectural history, constructed in the English Arts & Crafts style even as Victorian architecture remained vogue. The interior of the home celebrates the aesthetic movement of the late 1800s, wherein everyday objects were highly decorated to enhance the beauty of the household; this can be seen in items such as the decorative tiles placed on the mantles and carved wooden furniture scattered throughout the rooms. Part of the Near North Side's Prairie Avenue District, the historic home is a block away from the Clarke House Museum, the oldest standing home in Chicago, and the National Vietnam Veterans Art Museum.
Tours run Wed. - Sat. 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m.
Adults $10; Seniors and Students $9; Children (5-12) $5; Children under 5 are free.
