The Jane Addams Hull-House Museum stands as a testament to the experiment of the social settlement as the means to enacting change within a community. It is the central facility, and one of the few buildings still standing, of the Hull-House complex begun in 1889 by Jane Addams and Ellen Gates Starr. Created as a place for neighbors of all ethnic and social backgrounds to come together and enact change in their own neglected community, the museum now commemorates the spirit of the home through lectures, exhibits and film promoting change. Situated on the University of Illinois at Chicago campus in Little Italy, the museum is less than two miles west og Grant Park.
Open Tue. - Fri. 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.; Sun. noon - 4:00 p.m.; Closed Mon. and Sat.
Free.
