Jose's Tree Service Evaluation

In August of 2008 I requested estimates from four tree services for the removal of a yew tree and the trimming of a maple tree in my backyard. One responded via voice mail, the second sat in his truck in the front of my house and handed me an estimate twice the charge from Jose, the third was Jose's Tree Service who spoke with me and handed me a written estimate, and the last tree service contacted ignored my request completely. I chose Jose Flores because he took the time on his day off - a Saturday morning - to come to my house, inspect what I wanted, and offered suggestions that improved upon what I expected to be done. Jose's Tree Service came out in a matter of days, trimmed the maple so that limbs no longer touched my house or the electric wires, and removed the yew tree down to the ground. Jose Flores supervised his 6 workers and in less than an hour all the work was completed, the ground was cleaned, as well as the yard of my neighbor (the yew tree extended over the fence). By the way, I did get written permission from the neighbor for workers to be in his yard. I recommend Jose's Tree Service highly. Next year, should the maple need trimming I will contact them again. We needed to have our trees cut down so I went online to find a tree service for this project. I did shop around and decided to go with Jose. Well it was a disaster. They quoted me 1500 for 5 trees including stump removal. Well after they cut down the trees ( they broke my neighbors window ) They went on lunch break. I hear a knock on the door and one of the workers asks to use the bathroom. He left it a mess, toilet overflowing and the smell of vomit! Ive been known to have one too many cervezas before but I clean up after myself. They finally finish and this guy Jose comes and asks for his check. I ask him if they plan on cleaning up the mess. He says that they cleaned most of it but forgot to clean one area and he would send his guys back the following day. I cut him the check and he says that he wants $400 more because didnt take into account how long it took to grind out the stumps. I told him that it is his fault he didnt price it correctly. By this time two of his workers walk up on the front porch and I decide I dont want problems and give him $400 cash.
