We found this place listed in the PBS Member Card directory as one of the restaurants that will give a discount for members. The only reason we tried this one (instead of one of the zillion other Mexican restaurants in the neighborhood) was because it was advertised in the directory. The food and margaritas were good, but not amazing. There was cilantro in the dish of my friend who is allergic and specifically asked ahead of time if cilantro was in that plate and if so, could it be omitted. And when the bill came, the waiter refused to honor my PBS card discount even though I showed him the directory with their listing in it. With so many other choices, we won't be going back.

Good food, great margaritas, awesome service, reasonable prices. What more could you ask for from a restaurant?

Mayan Palace is an all-around great experience from the time you walk in the the door to the time you leave. The service is quick and very personal. Mayan Palace does not have the waiters that pretend they don't understand what you're saying when something goes wrong, they correct the problem and apologize. I have heard people say Mayan Palace is overpriced, and it is more expensive than some of the surrounding mexican places. However, it is well worth the money. Personally I feel Mayan Palace puts Cesars to shame. There are less neon signs at MP, but that doesn't mean it is not vastly better. The pinnacle of my experience was the waiter shaking my hand when I left...highly recommend!

It seems like there are an abundance of Mexican restaurants in my neighborhood. We had been to Caesar's (self-proclaimed "Home of the Killer Margarita")... but a friend recommended we come here instead. Don't get me wrong, Caesar's margaritas are really good, but Mayan Palace's are just as good... Not to mention that, but they're half price on Tues/Thurs. Also, the food is way better than Caesar's, and probably one of the best Mexican places I've tried in Chicago thus far. Try the Ceviche appetizer or Chicken Fajitas. Everything always tastes fresh, and the staff is really nice. I could eat their chips and salsa all night long, and the way they keep bringing you more, they'd probably let me! The ambience is better, too (more hip restaurant, and less "bar-scene"). The restaurant space is cute but a bit crowded, so when it's nice out, try the covered back patio!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE Mayan Palace. My boyfriend and I make a point of eating there every weekend. The food is delicious authentic Mexican and the service is amazing! (we come in so often they already know what we're going to order and how we like it) They make you feel like royalty and fall all over themselves making sure you have everything you need. In the summer they have a large patio but in the cooler months there's not a ton of seating indoors. Tuesdays and Thursdays are half price margarita nights and it's totally worth fighting the crowds. It's cheap and yummy...you have to try Mayan Palace!
